Youssof is 1 year 7.5 months old. Lots of things he can do now, including raise his mom's temper LOL. So far his word's still so limited...in English, Indonesian 'n Arabic, but not too many. Let's see what words he knows till now:
- Mama for me 'n Baba for his dad...even sometimes he calls his brother Baba too =p.
- Mam for eating 'n Me' for drinking...don't know where he got this word for drinking from, perhaps from 'mimik' my family got used to say to him when we were in Indonesia last time. But according to my bro in law, 'me' is the word for water used in official arabic...hmmm, how could he find it out? hihihi.
- Dadah for waving bye...even if people says bye bye, he'll respond it with dadah, hehehe. But he can say bye too...only he'll say it 'ba'.
- Bava for bravo...'n he'll clap his hands while he says it =D. People here says bravo to show a compliment if someone is succes to do something, usually for kids.
- Maw if he wants something...I guess it's suppose to be 'mau'.
- Ayaa for hallo...everytime he hears the phone ringing, he'll scream it 'ayaa!!'. Sometimes he takes my mobile phone 'n says 'ayaa' then pretends that he's talking on the phone =p
- Tetu for thank you...he'll say it both when we give him something 'n when he gives us something. It's like he forces us to say thank you hahaha.
- 'Ood for sit...'n it's an arabic word to ask someone (male) to sit. He gets used to give us an order to sit if he wants something on our hands =D
- Hatt for bring it here...he got this word coz his grandpa got used to scream it to him everytime he ran away with his grandpa's stuffs. Well, his grandpa is too old to be able just running after him instead of screaming this word out. 'N now, he gets used to drop his toy or anything on his hand then says this word to us for bringing it up =p
- Haade from Haader...means okay. We get used to say it to him if he wants something 'n we can't give or do it right away. It's like we'll give or do it for him, but he should wait for a sec. Now he can say it if we want him to do something hehehe.
- Yalla for let's go...it's an arabic word 'n he likes it so much coz it means we'll go out, hihi. He's really really such an outdoor boy, if we say this word he'll run to the front door 'n keep pushing us to go LOL
- Cu baa from Ciluk Baa...he'll say it with his hands on 'n off his or my eyes. 'N he'll say 'baa' also, everytime the shirt passes through his head when I put it on him...or when he turns on the lights =p
- Aiwa for asking yes or no...coz he gets used to ask something to me (with his 'planet' words ofcourse 'n usually I pretend to understand LOL) 'n I answer it with 'aiwa'. So now he gets used to talk to me 'n says 'aiwa' at the end to know if I agree or not =D
- Oppa from Hoppa...he'll say it to us while he was on a high place (usually table) 'n wanna jump to us. We used to say it to him when he was younger while playing this jumping game. 'N now, after becomes a climbing expert...it's his turn to say so LOL
- Tah from Sah...he'll either he use it to answer us if we sah Sah? (=right?) or to ask if something's right or not hehehe.
- Taya from Ta'ala, which means come here.
- 'Ottah for cat...he'll say it while making his fingers open 'n close to call the cat.
- La or sometimes Gak for no...by shaking his head too =D
- Geddo for grandpa...he can say it but veeeery rarely, hehehe.
- Tu Uwa Tidaa from Dua Tiga...it's the lesson he got when we were in Indonesia, to say 'satu dua tiga'. It was almost 7+ months ago, but he still remembers it.
- Tu Thee from Two Three...still can't say the 'one' hehe.
- Tudah from Sudah.
Actually before we went to Indonesia, he sometimes could say Saam from Islam (his bro's name) 'n E Da? (=what's that?)...but seems that he forgot after lots of Indonesian words he got from my family. Vice versa, he could say lots of Indonesian words which he forgot after we were back to Egypt...like Tate from Tante for calling my sis, Ti from Uti for calling my mom, Mbak for calling the maid, Ko from Eko (my bro's name) 'n Teddy (my bro in law's name).
I read in lots of articles 'bout multi language baby that they might be late than other babies in his age without multi language. Also there's a method called One Parent One Language (OPOL), which both one parent should consistantly talk in one language 'n the other in another language. But the problem with me 'n hubby is that even both of us get used to talk in mix languages...for instance: Mau eat apa? or Aez ta shorb teh or nesca (wanna drink tea or nescafe?), 'n elses =D. Not good perhaps, but it comes automatically between us. So now what we try to do for not making Youssof more confuse with many languages is to be constant in using one word. For example, if we say 'ood for sit, then we'll keep using it 'n not change it to 'sit' or 'duduk'...or udah/sudah for finish, not change it to 'finish' or 'khalas'...or thank you, not change it to 'makasih/trima kasih' or 'syokran'...etc. We also try to use the easiest word to say from the 3 languages.
So, is there anyone can share experience or knowledge bout multi language kids with me? The problems that come up when you teach them to talk, when they finally can really talk, or whatever related to this matter...pls share it with me. TETUUU...=D

Youssof pinter banget !! kosakatanya banyak trus ga cuma satu bhs lagi *thumbsup*
anak kecil cepet bisa kok Ri, nanti kalo udah 2-3 th dia bisa bedain mana yg bhs indo, bhs arab dan bhs inggris - bagusnya sih konsisten, kalau bilang satu kalimat jangan dicampur2.. tapi susah ya :P
abis aku juga seringnya ga tau bhs inggrisnya jadi keluar deh bhs indonya :P
aku ga belajar bhs norsk, kalo ngomong sama org sini ya pake bhs inggris.. cuma begitu hrs baca lieur deh.. juga kalo sandra nyampe rumah trus nyanyi dlm bhs norsk.. ga ngerti *pusing*
intan
kalau pengalaman gue gini ri
Op : mas, nanti beliin cipati..
MB : cipati cipati, santan gitu!
hmm ini ga menolong ya? *lari sekencang2nya
Sebelum pindah anak2 udah mulai nangkep bhs Inggris, namun pas kita mudik - dauhlah pake bahasa Indonesia dulu - toh nanti pas pindah tugas lagi mereka bisa mulai ngikuti bahasa barunya, yang penting buat kita saat itu - anak2 mesti bisa bahasa Indonesia dulu.. :)
youssouf dah banyak ngomongnya Ri... hebadd...
kalo ntar punya anak,
Pas dia bilang " I want minum " nurse nya ga' ngerti ... untung nenek nya ngerti bbrp kata b indo jg .... :D
INTAN: iya nih, utk konsisten ya yg susah. Sandra mah pinter pisan da Tan, gak bingung dgn byknya bahasa yg dia denger *thumbs up jg* =p
OPHI: nah Phi, elo jg hrs ngajarin anak2 elo entar utk bedain yg mana bhs Indonesia 'n mana bhs Sunda huehehe..
DEASY: emang klo dah anak ke-2 dst lbh gampang kynya ya. krn pasti diajak ngobrol trs sama kakaknya. Islam klo ngomong ke Youssof mah bhs Inggris, Deas...dia jagoan Inggrisnya, MashaAllah.
LUIGI: hi Lui, mampir jg kesini =D. well, klo kasus anak gw...hrsnya yg prioritas mah bhs Arab dulu ya. tp kok gwnya aja msh bloon gtu lho hehehe.
INTA: bener Mbak Shin, hrsnya sih ky gtu...tp aku bingung baginya. abis di rmh ada mertua jg kan, yg klo ngomong ke Youssof pasti pake bhs Arab. gmana caranya ya?
EVA: alhamdulillah klo sgitu emang dah cukup byk. abis aku bingung utk anak seumur dia sbenernya brp byk kata yg hrsnya dia dah bisa.
ARI: amiiin...smoga Dzaki jg dpt kemajuan byk ya stelah terapi.
HANZKY: iya sih, udah byk ngertinya dia klo qta kasih tau atow suruh apa. qtanya yg kdg msh gak ngerti dia mau apa, krn cuman nunjuk2 doang...blm bisa bilang =D. lucu ya Han, ngedenger ni anak 2 dah bisa ngomong. kynya baru kmrn qta hamil bareng hihihi...
YANTI: Youssof mah cerewet...tp gak jelas ngomong apa =p. iya yah, sama ky gw...gak pernah diajarin utk ngomong Jawa, tp ngerti 'n bisa jg dikit2. jd emang anak tuh nyerap aja ya apa yg ada diskitarnya.
LIA: InshaAllah ya Li, makin lancar. Dah lancar sih klo cuman bla bli blu ble blo LOL. smoga Youssof bisa pinter ky Raka gtu ya...amiiin.
RORO: gw sih cukup responsif Ro, ngejawab iya 'n gak doang klo dia dah mulei bla bli blu ble blo...huehehe. elo jg kan beda suku sama si mas. bisa tuh diajarin dua2nya...plus english 'n indo, siiiip. sing lancar hamilna nya...sehat sampe saatnya lahiran.
LOUCEE: huahaha...gw jg brasa mulei lemot akut nih blajar bhs Arab. gw jg pernah bilang ke hubby, kynya Youssof yg bakal ngajarin gw ntar hihihi.
INOT: wah, Nienke pindah sini aja...udah jago gtu lho pelafalan Arabnya hihihi. mungkin jgn dipaksa utk blajar bhs Indonesia deh Not. jgn disengaja utk ngajarin. ntar dia makin gak mau. selipin aja diomongan sehari2.
NIA: iya nih Nia...aku sama hubby bener2 suka gado2 klo ngomong. cuman qta brusaha gak gtu klo ke Youssof. walopun qta ngajarin vocabnya msh campur2...tp klo dah brupa kalimat qta brusaha satu kalimat satu bhs or diulang dgn bhs yg lain.
